If you want to save money while grocery shopping and not tempt yourself, be fully hydrated!  Hydration is an integral part of the “full” satiated feeling, especially when trying to save money while buying groceries.  If you drink water, you will eat less, and be more fit.  The more fit you are, the more you save!.  In the same vein, you want to avoid shopping for sugary foods.  These are high in calories, but provide little to no benefits nutritionally.  These little snacks seem like a good stop gap when you’re hungry but the cost for these foods add up and have no nutritional value.    This causes a cascade where you crave sugar and continue to waste money buying sugar food.

The next tip is to pay for store brands when there is an option to do so.    Usually there is little to no loss in quality, but the cost savings buy buying a store brand will add up!  In this time and age, try to find a coupon app for your groceries.  There are plenty out there, but imagine saving 20% of your bill with a nice coupon app, that will surely save you some money!  Another way to save some money is to start freezing things you usually don’t.  For instance, you can keep bread good longer by freezing it.  One of the best ways to save some money is to buy in bulk, always. This is easiest when belonging to a place such as Sam’s club, where you can buy lots of essentials in extreme bulk.  You may not find a need to buy in bulk if you live alone, or have a small family, but if you are trying to save, buying in bulk is one of the best ways to do so!

If trying to save money, where you shop is critically important!  If you can get what you want and what you need from a grocery store such as Kroger, getting the same things at Whole foods will cost much more money!  If you can afford to not shop at the high-end stores, don’t do so.  You will save countless amounts of dollars!  Lastly, once you know where to shop, make sure you get into a routine, and make lists.  If you write down ahead of time what you need, you will get into a habit of buying only what you need.  And as long as you aren’t shopping hungry, you are more likely not to deviate from your list and be tempted to buy something random!  Happy savings!
